I can find inactive users with almost no posts all the way back to 2010/2011.

Andy had previously mentioned that that was caused by a bug in phpbb3. He does however still purge inactive users. In fact, I've seen the 10,000-account barrier get crossed multiple times within the past year.

In any event HeathHayle, logging in at least once every 6 months will ensure that you do not get pruned.

While 7 has a higher bar, it runs surprisingly well on older hardware - my Prescott machine was shockingly useable. While 7 also has an impressive ammount of compatibility with xp hardware, the tricky part is proper drivers.
The problem is how slow old silicon is at modern workloads: ad & javascript bloated websites, hd video streaming, multitasking, etc. This makes old computer obsolete to everyone but the most extremly basic users. So why even bother upgrading? Anyone who cares about 7's benefits (stability security software etc.) would rather get a whole new machine with a later version of Windows, while anyone using a XP machine doesn't care enough to install something different.
I can't believe your words.
On a core 2 duo laptop, 20fps -30fps framedrop in Windows 7.
System became much slower.

Though, I assume the purging doesn't apply to people who are in either the FTP or Donators group? Because I also see plenty of newer accounts having FTP access and not really ever being active on the forum at all. Or does it still apply and I just haven't seen it myself..?

If that would be the case, then HeathHayle wouldn't even have to worry that much after gaining FTP access, I assume...

I can certainly corroborate this, as even my old Northwood Pentium 4 machine (I think the CPU was running at 1.8GHz) with 2GB of ram and a Radeon 9600 was quite usable for light browsing and XP-era games back when it was still my main machine.

Frame drop in what? It seems to me that you pulled this statistic from nowhere. And yes, obviously XP can run faster on a lot of hardware, but countless tangible improvements made in versions after it require some performance sacrifices on older hardware...

he is right, for example windows 7 will never work smooth (especially in games) on a laptop like dell d620 (core2duo, 4gb ram, old nvidia quadro)

Last night, I was on the BA FTP when all of a sudden I tried to download a file there. But when I right clicked on the file, I saw that the download option was grayed out, making it so that I can't download the file. Anyone know how I can make it so that I can download from the FTP server again?

P.S. I'm using FileZilla

he is right
He might be, but where's the evidence for his claim? How was the framerate of this mysterious program measured? What even is the program, and what exactly is the "core 2 duo laptop"?

Well yeah, a machine that was never intended for gaming doesn't play games smoothly, who would have thunk it. But for lighter use, nearly any Core 2 Duo laptop can still be "smooth" enough on 7 and even 10, especially if you upgrade the RAM and install an SSD. I know because I used a Core 2 Duo machine for years with those upgrades.

Make sure you have permission to write to the folder you're trying to download it to. If the download is greyed out you either don't have permission or aren't connected properly.

If I may ask, if you don't intend to stick around more than once or twice a year, what are you doing here? We're an active community and try to be one, not to have tons of people idling by for years...

Other then the unofficial POSReady support hack which expires in 2019, there is no other way. I also have to question why you are still using Windows XP?

Im Still using XP on my Old pc, But for now, im using The Windows 10 build 10586

A new bug for search results with more than 100 results.

URL: https://www.betaarchive.com/database/se ... q=mac+os+x and https://www.betaarchive.com/database/se ... windows+xp
Description of issue: There is less than 1000 results, but the "over 1000 results returned" warning appears, with or without filters.
Replication: Simply search anything that has more than 100 results, not just 1000 results (like "Windows XP" or "Mac OS X") and this error will appear.

I'm a bit new here but I'd like to share this:

This is from the Durango Alpha OS October 2012 Leak with XDK 6.2.11785.0 and a fixed bootable VHD (that didn't work in the original leak) and repacked into a 7z LZMA2 with maximum compression.

Bruh I found it, nvm.

That's intended. Your search showed over 100 results, but we would restrict the total shown to 1000. It's just to let you know we would never show more than 1000 and that you should consider refining your search to show less results.

But it's a little confusing I agree.

I was able to download files from the FTP before all this started happening. I'm sure I do have permission to download files, the place I choose to download FTP files is the "Downloads" destination folder in Windows File Explorer, and I am connected properly, plus I follow the fair usage policy by limiting downloads to less than 50GB a day, but occasionally I like to just lurk around the FTP. I'll look at the permissions in the FTP server in FileZilla and see if I can solve this issue.

One issue that affected my downloads was that the directory and files were above 255 characters. I simply made a downloads folder right on my hard drive like G:\downloads\ . That solved all my issues with dumb download issues

hi guys do you know a easy way to get to 25 posts so my account does get deleted? thanks for your help
erm.... Simply make substantive (i.e. non-spammy) posts on this forum, in topics that interest you and/or where you have something of value to contribute.

This is probably one of the stupidest questions ever...
