Audio in Chicago Discs

Hi, I found that the copy of Chicago build 116 on the FTP was in BIN/CUE format and sunnyblueman2014 said that disc contains audio. I tried all CD ripping program trying to get those audio tracks but none of them worked. Eventually I managed to get 5 audio tracks extracted.

I then downloaded another build from original dump - build 189. I first thought it is just a plain data disc but after I converted the MDF/MDS it to an ISO file, I noticed 7-Zip says "There are some data after the end of the payload data". I extracted the extra 6805504 bytes and opened it using a hex editor (I thought they were over-dumped zeros). I found an unusually high number of FF, which suggested it might be some sort of audio. I searched for the presence of WAV format and I found quite a few. I copied the first WAV manually into a blank file and named it test.wav but it didn't work. I am 100% sure it is WAV so I added a header to that file and guess what, it works!

Now I am sure that there is audio/music on the disc and I used my programs to rip all audio off that disc.

I looks like the dumps from original Chicago discs contains audio tracks for whatever reason but it is quite rare for program/OS discs. If anybody know other Chicago discs with audio or why Microsoft put audio on the disc, please reply.

What vmware version may I ask? I use workstation 7.1 and I've never had it happen.

Something > 10, can't remember. This was a few years ago, so I don't have a more accurate version number to give.

Installing Nashville on Microsoft Virtual PC as a full build

After much trial and error, i finally figured out how to install Windows Nashville as a full build on Microsoft Virtual PC 2007. Here's what you need:

-Any Windows 95 Build inbetween 431 and 450
-Windows Nashville (of course)

First of all, Why do we need to have one of those Windows 95 builds? Well these builds are upgrade builds, like nashville, but you can just continue to install them as a full build anyway. How? Through a file called complinc.dll. Take this file from the WIN95 Directory on the 95 beta iso, inside the Precopy1(Or 2).CAB file, and put it in the WIN95 Directory on the Nashville iso.

Now you need to patch some files. Windows Nashville won't work on today's processors. Look here. These files (Except for CS3KIT.EXE, which is not included) are found in the WIN95 folder on the Nashville iso inside .cab files that start with WIN95_. You can use 7-zip or the file manager of your choice to extract them. After you extracted and patched these files, put them into the Nashville WIN95 directory mentioned before.

Now to install it! As said before, being a upgrade build it asks for an existing Windows Installation. But since we replaced the complinc.dll file with the one from the 95 beta, we can install it as a full build by just clicking continue 3 times. After that, just install it as you normally would do with Windows 95. Up to the second phase, where you get a BSOD like this:

https://www.betaarchive.com/imageupload/1262483183.th.855291.jpg

Just press ctrl+alt+del to restart the vm.

After it boots back into the second phase, don't wait for the BSOD to show up again! Immediately press ctrl+alt+del again to bring up the task manager. Don't worry, the task manager stops the device detection. Press shut down. while the computer is shutting down, it may appear to have stopped completely. Just press enter and the vm will shut down completely.

After that, boot up the vm again, and the second phase of the setup will continue as normal. Then after that, you will land at the desktop! Congrats! Windows Nashville is installed on Microsoft Virtual PC 2007!

My IP is 49.187.*.* now and it might change significantly at anytime. I am having a hard time connecting because every time my IP changes, I will have to update IP lock (it changes every day if not every few hour).

Would it be possible to set my IP lock to 49.187.*.* so I don't have to click the button every day?

So I've been reading a bit on OS/2 and that made me curious since I've never seen any, has it ever been sold preinstalled on laptops or even desktop computers? I can't seem to find much information on that, mostly only about eComStation which doesn't really interest me, since there doesn't seem to have lots of things new and all, thanks!
Between 1994 and early 1995, German computer chain Vobis used to sell PCs with OS/2 preloaded on them.

This is how I use timecrk.exe:
1) Start the installation of a Windows 9x beta.
2) After the first part of the installation process is completed, I shut down the machine instead of rebooting.
3) I mount the virtual hard disk and copy "timecrk.exe" onto it, then after I'm done I unmount the virtual hard disk.
4) I power on the virtual machine again, but with something like the Windows 95 startup disk.
5) Then I type C:, and then I type timecrk.exe, done.
I might make a lot of unnecessary steps, but that's the way I do it and it worked for me.
