Is there a workaround?No.

Here's where users are venting: https://communities.vmware.com/thread/518568.

I saw X forwarding mentioned relating to the removal of this feature. I wonder how that works and how to set it up for a Slackware guest on a Windows (and/or linux/*BSD) host.

Great. Thanks. I'll try to play around with this. How did you make him so big? I guess the scaling works? I didn't get to try that at all but I assumed it didn't. Or it was in the mesh to import this big. Either way it's impressive.

EDIT:
MESHTESTU95.rar

This here is a map made by yrex to show that meshes or meshsprites can be in fact rendered in unreal 95 after some hacking. I renamed the map to be more easily rememberable and I made MESHTESTE afterwards with Woman mesh in it...

I've see the model working.

You’re in a small, metal-enclosed hallway. Lights on one of the walls are blinking, and you hear the

dull sound of machinery. Exploring the tight metal corridors, you find a closet amply stocked with

weapons. Instinctively, though rather stereotypically, given the setting, you grab a shotgun. Nothing

here to shoot... You continue exploring.

Might take some reverse engineering to make a tool to hack actors and make a inventory and shotgun.

Would it be possible to make the alternativeued work on the later 1997 versions too? because those are the only ones that don't load. I mean 0.871d, 0.874d, version 88. 867z works fine with it fortunately.

I just didn't apply proper MESHSPRITE SCALE.

It should already work with them. What is exactly the problem? Did you copy appropriate UnInterfaceWrapper and Interop.Unreal to main dir? Did you disable U95 mode?

It just crashes with that "exception" error...
Yes I disabled u95 mode of course etc..it refuses to work on them.

For the next version, can you make working with meshes possible inside the 95 editor then?

reUNR95 Engine
I've made a page about this. (Leo is OK with that.) called it reUNR95 Engine.
*needs to edit the HTML some more.*

reUNR95 Engine is a project of reverse-engineering Unreal 95 builds (and perhaps other builds like 0.83 or later). yrex & LeoTCK. you guys rock.

Oh and LeoTCK. sent you a email and hopefully we can talk about Unreal95. and other things.

Well this isn't WinWorld PC, their definition of "abandonware" is not definitive or in any way a basis for the community. They have their own definition and rules of what abandonware means, we got our own. And our definition is what matters here.

The public FTP server works just fine, but you do know you need an FTP client right? Accessing it through a web browser is not supported in any way.

For me all of them (0.871d, 0.874d, 0.88) work. Without having full error message with stack trace and other stuff, I can only guess.

For the next version, can you make working with meshes possible inside the 95 editor then?

I'm limited to what Unreal interface allows. And it doesn't allow too much in this early version - most of it is just executing console commands. What I used to do this hack was a program that allows to modify other processes's memory content in which I manually searched for actor list by searching for known unique values eg. location vectors.

So, if you want stuff like mesh importing and stuff possible to do with console commands and macros - it's easy to do.

If you want to modify actor properties (the "mesh" property for example), we have such possibilities:
- trying to find interface command for that (which most likely doesn't exist)
- talking directly to UNENGINE.DLL - no idea how to do that
- memory hacking - maybe...

their rules make no sense

it was always common agreement that abandonware software is 10 years old while has no support anymore
market share and peoples usage have no influence on this

some people and even companies use win 3.x, heck even DOS (yes I saw it)
but that doesn't mean its not abandoned

same goes for games and programs

lolno. There is no common agreement on "abandonware", because "abandonware" isn't a real thing; just a weak justification for software piracy for those not yet ready to admit they are software pirates. As such, "abandonware" is whatever you damn well want it to be.

Try telling a lawyer it's OK because the software is 10 years old and out of support, and watch them enjoy a massive heart attack.

First of all, this topic isn't about the legality of using antique software, so please stay on topic. We have other topics if you want to endlessly debate "software piracy" of software that no one sells, supports, manufactures or advertises. There is a lot in this world that by following the absolute dry and inflexible laws would land half of the population behind bars, but the reason they are not is because they are deemed insignificant. So please leave it at that.

This is a topic about if Windows XP is abandonware and it has been answered.

Yep, I tried Unity Mode on Slackware64-current and it doesn't work. I'll try X forwarding with it later.

UPDATE: X forwarding works a bit like Microsoft's Remote Desktop feature, but you can use it on a program-by-program basis. To get some good tutorials, you can just search for it on whatever search engine you prefer.

Slackware 14.2 is now almost at beta stage. We now have Linux 4.1, GCC 5.2, eudev replacing udev, Xorg Server 1.18, Firefox 42.0 & XFCE 4.12. Plasma 5 is still not added to testing yet though.

Good morning, I am a student in school and I am programming and testing abandonware software and abandonware operating systems in VMware Player 12.
My name is Daniels. I live in town of Koknese, Latvia. I am 12 years old.
My family has a computer since early 2000's, it was IBM NetVista from 1999-2000.
Now I have DELL Optiplex 755 with 4GB RAM, Intel Pentium DualCore 3.00GHZ, upgraded video card (ATI Raedon HD 3450 series)

I was browsed BetaArchive since 2012 to see images of Beta Builds of Windows'es.
So, I say hello to community of BetaArchive :)

I'm super late to the discussion, but just wanted to add my support to the decision of converting them to iso. While preserving originals is what this place is about, I think this special case simply requires an exception. You always have to decide between the options you are given, even if they are not ideal. If there is not enough space, there is not enough space. Or money. If you can also keep an offline archive of the original files, good. The situation is even more special because you need to convert them to .iso when you are going to use them. Potentially damaging the future of the site because of those files is not something I'd like to see. The ideal situation is simply out of reach.
