6.0.5212.0.winmain.050726-1915_x86fre_server-client-unstaged_retail_en-us
Never heard of that even existing, but thanks anyway for those unexpected leaks
6.0.5284.0.vbl_media_ehome.051218-1800_x86fre_server-client-unstaged_retail_en-us
That would be awesome!
6.0.5824.16387.vista_rtm.061017-1900_x86fre_client-retail_en-us
That's the build that had the XP upgrade bug IIRC, which 5840 fixed.

Um, today BAFTP onlined couple of new things, one of them is Vista 6.0.5284.0.vbl_media_ehome.
I used VMWare 12.5.3 and set compatible to 10.x at the first time, and to 6.x at the second time. I set HDD to IDE mode.. But those still cannot solve the problem, when I install it, when copying files a several time it shows this ERROR Dialog:

https://www.betaarchive.com/imageupload/2016-12/1482230347.th.45328.png

Wondering why could this happen and how to solve it..

EDIT:I opened vmdk and at \$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\ I found a setuperr.log and it shows this:

Mac OS 9 Bomb Screen Address Error iMac G3

Hi everyone!
I brought an iMac G3 the other day and it came with Mac OS 9.1. I Reinstalled Mac OS 9.2.1 as a clean install and then I tried to install X 10.3 Panther. That kept Kernel Panicking and when it got to the installer it said I have to update the firmware. When we booted back to OS 9 it bomb screened with "Address error". I took out the Panther CD and it still bomb screened. The iMac will now bomb screen on anything Mac OS 9.

I have tried:
Reseating the ram
Mac OS 8.6 (wasn't bootable)
Turning off extensions
Extension Manager
Booted from 8 tools disk (wasn't bootable)

I have a copy of Mac OS X 10.0 Cheetah on it right now because that is the only OS (apart from Puma) that installs.

iMac Specs:
400Mgz PowerPC G3
128MB PC100 SDRAM
Slot-Loading CD-RW Drive

If anyone can help me that would be great!
Thanks,
TheSpiritingPoet

Guys, please forgive my noob question, but what exactly are versions 88, 98 and 99? (with dates, if possible ) As far as I can tell from Tim's logs, Unreal was at version 0.75 in May 1996, and progressed to 0.874d by September 1997. After that, Tim apparently switched to numbered builds (1,2... to 200, 205 and eventually 226). Please correct me if I'm wrong.

There is a different 5212 that in the screenshot has the first start Orb. I wonder if that winmain has it.

THANKS, Thanks, thanks. marcoguy, for uploading this stuff. For now I'm back in the beta scene!

88 is really called 0.88 and its Unreal.exe is dated to 1997.11.18.
99 is the famous February 1998 beta.
98 is dated to 1997.11.03, but this version is suspected to be fake.

- Tadrio: For an image editor, it wouldn't really make a difference, however when you are trying to get the correct geometry from a floppy image for an emulator, the difference does matter as the sector ID's have to be right, and they include a side field. Though even with an image editor, it's important it gets things right so that if you happen to change the boot sector, it can write back the correct parameters rather than incorrect ones.

I have yet to try it, but the first advice is to try actual vmware 8 or older(not compatibility settings), 12.x have problems IIRC. EDIT: Try what The Distractor said.

I'm going to install the 5212 build, see if it has the pretty start orb.
Thanks for the dumps!

Screenshots coming up.
Doubtful, since this is winmain, and that 5212 was vbl_ux, which is equivalent to lab06, so it's far more advanced over winmain. Also, for 5212, you have to use the 5219 key.

WAIT, this build comes with Sidebar! Transparent even!

Can confirm that removing \sources\$OEM$ folder works.

I guess nobody in ehome lab ever tested the "run setup manually" button...

By the way, the custom setup launcher uses these serials (for 5284.vbl_media_ehome):

Ultimate: GQ67D-7XFV7-CFYXT-6FM72-PJHY6
Home Premium: BCW2J-22CC9-MKGJY-KYJHG-QK64G

I can confirm The Distractor's method works also.

BCW2J-22CC9-MKGJY-KYJHG-QK64G - Identifies as Windows vista starter

Found that the custom setup.exe on the disc generates an unattend answer file with a particular product key in it. Figured there must be a reason why.
