It would be acceptable if it can be properly verified and tested. The one you sent up was full of scene cracks and patches and whatnot, so it needs to be properly cleaned up and rechecked before it can be accepted.

i only uploaded a version of the game for verification purposes, the actual installer file is the only file that i am attempting to submit.
the installer itself does not contain any cracks or illegal modifications.

How did you resize the partition afterwards? PartitionMagic or something?
I tried running it under 2000 Neptune and ironically threw a Driver Entry Point Not Found BSOD (only when resizing to be honest), but in the main UI it showed the other half of the gigs that were originally invisible. I don't know a good resizing program that can run well under Neptune but I'm sure it was a nice trial if only it was an everyday OS like no other. I now hope BlackWingCat, who did the Win2k SP4 Extended Kernel can do an Extended Kernel for Neptune. If it happens, I'll be so excited! :V

Definitely not the startup sound. Looking at all sounds Microsoft made this would be a very weird choice, particularly when it's only for the UK market... It could be really from Microsoft (as poster above says, from an animation) but definitely not the real boot sound.
It could lead very well to conclusion that the UK startup sound is fake, just like the sounds claiming to be in Longhorn, and the startup/shutdown sounds that were thought to exist in Whistler...

Dealing with people who claim to have something important

The latest appearance of someone claiming to posess a real Neptune disk (which some minutes ago has been moved to a secure section of a forum) made me think of how such posts could be dealt with.

Wouldn't it be a good idea to lock such topics instantly and only let moderators give an explanation of how to properly dump/upload, etc.? That would prevent all the needless discussions on why someone has not uploaded yet, if he/she really has got what he/she claims, etc. This would also make it less attractive for people to falsely claim they have something important in their hands - because they'd know that this type of behaviour couldn't create any attention before claims that have been made can be proven.

Kind regards
Jens

It's already been dealt with properly, and the problem is people that can't stop accusing members without having any shred of proof for their assumptions and accusations. Until we have a proper upload made and the release has been verified any member should refrain from arguing about something they know nothing about. Locking a topic serves little purpose as there are members that can behave themselves properly and continue a meaningful discussion about a potential release without resorting to accusations and false assumptions. In this case however the topic will stay offline until we have a release to analyze and draw conclusions from.

Members that continue accusing and antagonizing members before definitive evidence has been gathered will be warned, and banned if continued.

ROR:
00.02.02.0703

I have countered/appealed to the warning that was issued to me because of this particular incident stating why I made the assumption in the first place. I will refer to this in the future. I also request that this topic be stickied for the forseeable future so that way future members will know how to deal with this if it ever happens again.

I'd also like to suggest that if someone creates false "hype" and then it turns out to be bollocks then they should be punished.

And unless it's very obvious trolling then how do you prove that the member didn't know it was a fake? We deal with these cases on an individual basis and deal with it as best as we can.

And any "punishment" is to be dealt by the moderators and admins, and moderators and admins alone. Or heads will roll.

coltonspleen, you're trying my patience. Your warning stays, deal with it and learn something by it.

Enough said about this.

Topic is locked until the release has been uploaded and until some people here learn the concept of proof before accusing others and how to address people with respect.

DarkTheHacker, can you please read your PMs?

Update: We've still only got a very small partial of the file, and the OP doesn't seem to bother reading his PMs, but from the file header it seems to be just a custom ISO made with IMGBurn in 2016, and size seems to match the original (broken) leak. There are no original MS headers left in the image whatsoever so this is by no means an original Microsoft disc and most likely just a reburn with a custom disc artwork.

File dates within vary between 1999-09-09 and 1999-12-10 with different timestamps, also uncommon for an original Microsoft disc. I386 folder is identical except for a single file, the OP's release has one additional file called SSFLYWIN.SC_ which is a screensaver file. Apart from that both releases seem identical, except for the timedate stamps and volume header.

Since it's partial we can't really check individual files and we're still waiting for a completed upload. But from what I can deduct it's highly unlikely this is in any way closer to the original Microsoft release than any of the various modded ones that has circulated around the net.

Please complete the upload, but from what we can see it seems you've been duped into believing this is the very original Microsoft leak, if that's the case.

Enterprise customers will drive the need for WSUS to still exist for the foreseeable future, regardless. At some point Microsoft will be forced to update their deployment tools due to this, despite them languishing at the moment.

it gives me an error while trying to reach the server (private and public both), also I can't connect through VPN, so maybe the router have failed.
It appears there was a 40 minute downtime caused by the ISP. All systems appear to be online at this time.
